What is the difference between a GED and a high school diploma?
A General Educational Development (GED) is a high school equivalency diploma, while a diploma demonstrates high school graduation. The GED test is a 7-hour test that covers language arts, math, social studies, and science. When someone passes this test, it demonstrates equivalent knowledge in these core subjects as someone who holds a high school diploma.
According to the GED Testing Service, “Just under 100% of U.S. schools accept the GED, including community colleges, private secondary or technical institutes, and universities.”
It is a very valid way to start secondary education and get into a career for students who cannot, for whatever reason, complete high school.
As a school of choice, we firmly believe this is a good choice for some young people. It’s why we offer our Reengagement Program, where we help young people prepare for and take the GED test. We pay for the whole thing and see these young people through the whole way.
And best yet, we have seats open in this program.
If you or someone you know could benefit from this program, learn more and fill out the interest form on our website:
