REACH is a School of Choice!

River’s Edge Academy Charter School (REACH) offers a holistic approach to student learning where parents have a voice.

As a public charter school of choice, we want to provide you with a clear picture of what makes our school unique and what to consider when applying.

What Makes REACH Unique?

Academics and Connections

  • We offer a wide range of program options: attend school two days a week, enroll in our 4-day K-3rd grade classroom, instruct at your location, or participate in our Early College Program.

  • Our curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration, where students engage deeply with concepts through hands-on exploration and multi-disciplinary studies.

  • REACH teachers endeavor to create a connected, long-term relationship with students and families. They come alongside you and your student to create an education experience that is unique to the student. Our teachers help students learn and set new goals in ways that work best for the student.

  • We thrive to build an atmosphere where students feel physically and emotionally safe to try new things, explore, and develop their interests. This, in turn, helps them develop confidence and build self-worth — and gives you peace of mind as a parent.

Partner with REACH for a successful school year

  • At REACH, we believe the partnership of the school and family leads to the success of the student.

  • The Learning Coach (parent/guardian) plays an active and important role in the student’s education. As your student's Learning Coach, you will work with the advisory teacher to support your student.

Students with IEPs or 504 Plans

  • REACH serves a broad range of learners, including those with IEPs and 504 plans.

  • While we aim to provide support, some services typically offered by larger districts may differ at our small school (e.g., dedicated specialists on-site daily).

  • Important: If your child has an IEP or 504 Plan, please inform us at the time of enrollment so we can plan support accordingly.

Additional Considerations

Fieldtrips & Learning Opportunities

  • Students can join our educational fieldtrips and community engagement events. While enriching, this requires flexibility, signed permissions, and at times, parent chaperones.

Commute & Transportation

  • The Evans Valley campus offers bus transportation to and from the City of Rogue River.

  • The Grants Pass campus does not have bus service available therefore, families must plan for reliable daily transportation.

  • The drop-off and pick-up processes for both campuses call for patience and timeliness.

Informational Meeting

  • Families and students attend an informational meeting as the first step toward enrolling. This is a prime opportunity to hear about our school and ask questions.

  • Once you attend an informational meeting, the parent portal link will be emailed to you to continue the enrollment process.

Lottery and Waitlist

  • When REACH is at capacity for enrollment, applicants are selected via a public lottery. Siblings of existing students are given priority over applicants who do not have siblings currently enrolled at REACH.

  • Applicants are offered enrollment from the waitlist as openings arise. Depending on REACH's current enrollment, REACH may prioritize admission to specific grade levels.

Siblings

  • It is possible that one sibling may receive an offer while another does not since admission is based on a lottery system.

  • Once a student is enrolled, their siblings receive priority on the waitlist for their respective grade levels.

Financial Commitment

“Bridge the Gap” Fund

  • As a charter school, REACH receives approximately 80% of the per-student funding that district schools receive.

  • To maintain our robust programs, we ask families, if able, to contribute to our Bridge the Gap Fund.

  • Donations are voluntary but essential. These contributions support staffing, fieldwork, arts, and technology.
